To be honest, it depends. repairs/updates are better to be completed by the seller prior to selling. In my experience over the past 21 years, 9 times out of 10, the seller will end up getting less with an allowance than the cost of doing the repair themselves. Upgrades - so giving an allowance for a buyer to upgrade a feature of the home (maybe as a selling initiative work better)
