Only You Can Answer This - When selling the largest or one of your largest assets, it's important to partner with someone you feel will do the best job, makes you feel comfortable with your choice and that you can trust with the important task.

I'm not an advocate for high OR low commissions - I believe all commissions are negotiable and should be in relation with the service and value provided. Some will choose a listing agent on commission percentage alone.. the old saying, you get what you pay for, often holds true. Would you want the cheapest doctor to operate on you? The cheapest attorney defending you? The cheapest accountant doing your taxes for the IRS? There's always a balance - what is the value you are being provided for the fee/cost? What services do they include and that would be helpful and make a difference for you? Do they check on your house when you're out of town? Do they include staging so it's not an extra fee for you? Will they help arrange contractors and vendors for any prep work?

Your bottom line is what counts: If you choose a realtor with no experience, no strategy and poor communication skills because of commission percentage alone, you could end up with less than hiring the experienced and proven real estate agent at 1-2% higher. If the first thing an agent does to earn your business is reduce their fees, how will he/she negotiate on your behalf when an offer comes in on your home?
